Covid-19 has hit North Korea hard. In Denmark, a social safety net is stretched out under the companies andpopulation, which mitigates the impact of COVID-19 to some extent, but this is not the case in many poor countries.

Here, people are left to fend for themselves, and this is also the case in North Korea. In the past, theordinary North Koreans very poor, but during the lockdown in the spring, grocery prices rose toalmost quadruple the level. Prices fell in spring, but due to typhoons in July and September, prices increasedno Again. An estimated 30,000-50,000 North Koreans have died as a result of COVID-19 in North Korea.

It was already illegal to be a Christian in the country. Christians who are discovered are sent to North Korea's notoriouslabor camps, which are considered worse than Hitler's concentration camps. Whole families are collectively punished if onlyOne family member is discovered. The torture in North Korea's prisons is cruel and documented by hundreds of testimonies from escaped North Koreans. Several books document how inmates are humiliated. Witnesses report that guards urinate on prisoners, and some prisoners have their fingernails torn off, are whipped and subjected to lice infestation. One eyewitness reports that Christians are executed by being burned alive, among other things.

In Denmark we are not persecuted like in North Korea, but we can go through trials and face challenges. But God is thesame in Denmark, and His promises apply to us - just as they apply to North Korean Christians.

A North Korean church leader writes: "In the Gospel of John. 14:27 it says, 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; I will not give you what the world gives. Do not be dismayed or discouraged in your heart!' How good it is to know thatGod knows our hardships when we walk in the shadow of death. When we are struck by fear, anxiety, worry and hopelessness,he pours out his peace and joy so that we can live with the peace and joy of God's kingdom as a spiritual life in our body and heart."

When we are struck by fear, anxiety, worry and hopelessness, He pours out His peace and joy so that we can live with the peace and joy of the Kingdom of God as a spiritual life in our body and heart
