The UN calls the civil war in Yemen The world's worst disasterwhile others perhaps just as aptly talk about the forgotten war that doesn't get as much media coverage as other world hotspots.

Even before the civil war that began in March 2015, Yemen was one of the The Middle East poorest countries, and access to clean water was limited. After more than four years of civil war, 7 million Yemenis are malnourished, 74 % have no access to clean water, and more than 120,000 people were diagnosed with cholera in the first quarter of 2019.

In the midst of the darkness of war, however, the church brings light and encouragement to the citizens of the country. They may experience persecution and discrimination because they have come to faith in Jesus, but he is near them and equips them by the Holy Spirit to show love and reach out to people in need.

A local indigenous church leader says: "What is happening now is what it says in God's Word: 'We know that all things work together for good to those who love God'. Yes, the picture we see right now is a picture of war and worry and trouble and suffering, but the other picture behind that is the blessing of God. God's power works in debt community in these Circumstances".

Help is not reaching only Christians, but also the country's other inhabitants and consists of food packages with wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, beans and salt. In addition, the following are handed out rainwater systems and filters to collect and purify rainwater for drinking and used for cooking and washing to improve hygiene.

The crisis in numbers:

80% of the population lives below the international poverty line
74% of the population does not have access to safe drinking water
7 million people are undernourished
10 million people are just a small step away from hunger and famine
124.493 people was diagnosed with cholera in the first quarter of 2019
